15 December 2021

15 Dec 2021 – Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources ( KeTSA) is looking forward to explore collaboration with the United States (US) in transitioning Malaysia’s power sector during the US – Malaysia Renewable Energy Roundtable today at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The Rountable session was attended by The Minister Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin bin Hassan, Secretary Of State, Antony Blinken and US Embassy in Malaysia to have an engagement on renewable energy, to step up the efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
During the roundtable session, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources plans to introduce a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a total capacity of 500MW from 2030 to 2034 into the Peninsular electricity system to ensure reliability of power supply as solar becomes increasingly significant in power systems.
As we move toward a lower-carbon future, KeTSA is dedicated to decreasing its power sector emissions in Malaysia. The government has made numerous opportunities available to enterprises and industry players, particularly in the solar industry. “We believe in taking a pragmatic approach to transition our power sector to ensure a fair and just energy transition for all”, said YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin bin Hassan.
YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin bin Hassan also hope with the US help and support through the Power Sector Programme Cooperation with the US Department of State's Bureau of Energy and Natural Resources, Malaysia may benefit from US knowledge to help the country transition its power system.
